1901 - Present
Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded in 1901 on the campus of Richmond College (now called the University of Richmond) in Richmond, Va. The story of its founding by 12 determined men set the stage for the growth and success of one of the country’s premier fraternal organizations. The history of the Fraternity reflects the times, through great wars and profound cultural shifts. Throughout the decades, the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon have practiced their values and embraced the stated desire of the Founders, “This Fraternity will be different.”.
NM Alpha History
1929 - 2007
NM Alpha was the 4th national fraternity established at the University of NM on April 13th, 1929. Grand Chapter Secretary and original founding father, William L. Phillips (Uncle Billy) presided over the initiation of 36 men from the Coronado Club who would become the 1st initiated class of NM Alpha.
National Chapter Awards:
NM Alpha won a Buchanan Cup on 08/15/1985 which is a national award given to the most outstanding chapters across the country.
NM Alpha won a Chapter Home of the Year award on 02/01/2004 which is a national award given to one chapter per region that provides its members with a top-notch living and learning environment.
Sadly, NM Alpha lost its charter on 05/17/2007
